The Séminaire Histoire de la mode (IHTP/CNRS) and the LARCA (Université Paris Diderot) are organizing a joint international conference in Paris on October 13-14, 2017, “Moving Beyond Paris-London: Influences, Circulation, and Rivalries in Fashion and Textiles between France and England, 1700-1914.” This conference is the latest in a series on cultural exchanges in fashion, which have included “Haute couture, fashion and consumption, France and England, 1947-1957 (April 11 2014), “French-American Exchanges in Fashion,” (April 15, 2016), and Franco-German Exchanges in Fashion (October 10-12, 2016).

Abstract : There is still much to learn about where, how and why diplomats are keys actors in the many ways the trade of textile and the culture of clothing is spread out on a global scale through time and space.
The research theme chosen by Corinne Thépaut-Cabasset for CTR’s Research & Development day is presented through a series of case studies investigating the impact of diplomacy and secret service in the area of Dress and Textile.

Le vêtement d’enfant ou l’entrée dans l’histoire – Enquête du XVIIIe siècle à nos jours à travers les collections publiques et privées occidentales

The socialisation of children through fashion and clothing from the 18th century onwards, investigation in the public and private occidental museums’ collections and archives.

Soutenue a l’Université de Paris-Sorbonne le 9 décembre 2016, cette these d’Histoire de l’Art et Archéologie menée sous la direction de Pierre-Yves Balut, a été décernée par un jury preside par Anne Monjaret (EHESS, LAHIC) et compose de Lou Taylor (Universite de Brighton) et Regine Sirota (Universite de Paris-Decarte, CERLIS)

Résumé de l’auteure : Dans l’ensemble des recherches consacrées au vêtement, la mode enfantine française reste peu étudiée. Pourtant le vestiaire enfantin occidental du 18e siècle à nos jours, est abondamment présent dans les collections des musées de mode, d’ethnologie ou d’arts décoratifs. Continuer la lecture
